The Laminars is an initiative by Hindi Sir (Md. Shahjahan Ansari). It brings Maths, Science and Hindi coaching to Rameshwarpur Road, Kolkata, and online 1-to-1 tutoring to students on international boards around the world.

Our story

From one teacher’s classroom to students worldwide

For more than four decades, Md. Shahjahan Ansari has taught Hindi to students in Kolkata. Generations of them know him simply as Hindi Sir.

The Laminars is his dream project: a place where every subject is taught the way he has always taught Hindi. Start from the basics, explain every step, practise until it sticks, and check with a short test. Then go back over the mistakes until they are fixed.

Today the same method runs across Maths, Science and Hindi for Classes 6 to 10 in small batches at our Kolkata centre. It also runs online, one-to-one, for students on IB, Cambridge, Edexcel, AP, CBSE and ICSE boards wherever they live.

Small batches

Few enough students that the teacher knows each one by name, and sees who is stuck.

Personal attention

A starting test shows where each student should begin, and the pace follows the student.

Weekly tests

A short test every week to check what stuck, so no gap is left for the exam to find.

Doubts cleared in class

Questions are answered there and then in class, not left for later.
